Pop The Poppie

You know? It's getting hard to find a way to attach the words of wisdom I write to the occasional nice lady.

I am just glad that the lady gets all the focus, so no one notice it..

This is Poppie. She played a Centre-Forward for Bayern Munchen in 1972, just before becoming the head of the Economics faculty in Oxford.
Still, she chose a different path in life...

Leeds Pay For Their Deeds

So... Manchester United clinched yet another title. Whoa! What a huge surprise. I was sure Liverpool will be able to come from behind and shock everyone!

NOT!!!!

I guess that no one actually believed Rafa's gang can do it. Even when Liverpool had a 5 point lead over United, it seemed it's only a matter of time before United will start their great run, leaving Liverpool way behind. And guess what - that's exactly what happened.

So, unless you're a United fan, this week was not too special. So what can one do in order to put a smile on his face? That's easy - place his money against Leeds United. Haha!
After a rollercoaster season The Whites needed to beat Millwall at home in order to get to Wembley for the 2nd year in a row, but failed to do so.

I must say that while Leeds where a top-flight club, I was actually cheered for them. Not as a supporter, but as a person who think "they look nice, let's give them a hand!", but this ceased as soon as they started pulling all sorts of tricks. It started a couple of seasons ago, going bankrupt a second after realizing their relegation was inevitable, in order to avoid start the next season with minus 10 points.

This didn't help them, as they started the following season with minus 15, thanks to this trick...

At the beginning of this season they looked destined for the automatic promotion, but failed to impress under manager Gary McAllister. So, he was relieved of his duties and Leeds had to appoint a new manager. They chose to address Simon Grayson who, at the time, was the manager of Blackpool. This is, in case you do not know, against the regulations, since Grayson was under contract.
So, Leeds "pulled out", but all of a sudden - Grayson realized he had just about enough and decided to resign. Lucky for him, the Leeds position was still available...

I guess I am one the naive ones. I like my football as clean as it gets. I know there are a lot of pulls and tricks, but this does not mean I have to go on with them. I say - let the trickery be punished with another season in Division One!!!
